When I fist got my notebook I found some good tips on tweeking vista to get it to behave nicer. Expecialy my games, like real arcade. But I don't remember where. I had to send it to the shop and am getting it back reset. Anyone know any tips or where I may have seen them before?

They both sound familler. That may be it thank you I'll check it out.
update: They are not the same but I did some of the things they suggested.

There's a definite difference between the two articles there. One goes into disabling or setting some services to manual instead of automatic like the printer spooling while the one for 50 ways goes into addon devices, lan, and other things.

i did some some of the changes suggested by blackviper. and a couple od thing from the other. They aren't the tip's I did 1st time but so far some of the problems I was have I'm not any more. Not sure if from tips or vista updates or updates of some of the software I had to redownload.
Thanks for the help.

You can always stop into the msconfig utility to knock out a few startup items there. One thing to remember about Vista is the new Super Prefetch feature that takes the most often used games or apps and places those in a form of standby mode when Windows first loads up.

What that does is prestage them for faster loading time. Many fail to realize that this is why Vista seems to take more memory to run. Reducing the items that load along with Windows will free some of this up. The other things seen in the two articles there have to take one stap at a time to avoid mishaps especially where essential services are concerned.

I check msconfig alot to make sure things aren't starting on thier own. I didn't know that is what Super Prefetch did. I play A LOT of games. So that sounds use full. Or does it matter. I'll have to check to see if it's running or not.

The games you run most often should appear to load faster then any others you let sit idle for a lengthy period of time. What most don't realize is that with XP's SP2 this was a feature added into Windows then. http://digg.com/tech_news/Enabling_super_prefetch_in_Windows_XP_SP2

Enabling super prefetch in Windows XP SP2

One of the many claims Microsoft makes for Windows Longhorn is that it will launch applications 15% faster than Windows XP does currently. This is down to improvements in the Prefetch functionality. There's no need to wait until Longhorn arrives; this improvement is already in Windows XP thanks to Service Pack 2. It just needs to be turned on.
