I've got two external desktop hard drives, both are 3.5, one is Western Digital (should be Elements, 1TB, I am not sure) and one is Seagate. (Expansion 3TB)
Both hard disks are connected to the same desktop but they behave differently.
When I put my hand on the top of the case, when they are in active I could feel a little bit normal vibration from both of them, I know it's normal because the hardware is still in active , but the western digital one would stop vibration after a long period of being idle and I couldn't feel it vibrate anymore unless I access the drives again .
But the Seagate Expansion one never stops even after a long period of inactivity. I could always feel the little vibration unless I unplug its USB cable or power cord, but this doesn't happen to the western digital one.
In both cases, safely remove is done.
Does anyone know why?
I always feel it is no good unplugging a drive in vibration even if safely remove is applied. Any comments? Thanks
