If two disks have the same capacity, but different organization (say 4 sides and 614 cylinders versus 8 sides with 307 cylinders), is there any useful difference between them?
I am thinking of the performance , when doing a seek from one cylinder to another
CHS addressing hasn't been used for a long time but to understand the difference you need to know what a drive looks like. So say we have a single platter drive 100GB drive (2 50GB sides), and a 2 platter 100GB drive (4 25GB sides) and all the sides can be read at the same time (assuming you are looking at the same cylinder). Which one would be faster?
