My boss is looking for a way to switch between a Samsung 46" lcd television and a dell 21" display. They both have vga, the dell monitor has dvi and the television has hdmi. I need to find something that will allow me to switch between the tow displays. He has an xps m1730 laptop with dvi output. On his old computer his docking station had dvi and vga outputs and I set up hotkeys to switch between the two but now I cant find what I need to switch between the two. Thanks

You can try those KVM switches, that allows you to use two computers with one monitor, but I don't think that's what you want here. If its two displays one computer, I think you need a graphics card that supports a dual displays, most dedicated graphics card solutions have two ports either one VGA and one DVI or dual DVI ports. That allows you to connect two monitors to the same computer. If you have VGA and your graphics card has DVI ports, then you can use the converters that came with the card, or if you can't find any just grab some off ebay or your local computer store for a pittance.

Unfortunately the computer only has a single dvi output. I don't want to use two monitors at once like you would with dual monitors. I just want to be able to use them both without having to unplug a cable and plug in another. If there was some type of monitor switch then that would b great.
