Hi
Ok first off - i have Ubuntu and Dam small linux on 2 different iso cd's .

When i boot from the cd however the menu comes up and then when i choose an option to run the live CD my monitor comes up with a message saying
'out of range 35.5 kHz / 87 Hz'
And it just does this and nothing else

But i have KDE on an iso CD and this works fine

Does any one know what i can do to make ubuntu or damn small linux work?

Second question

Can i install linux onto an eternal Hard drive?
Or install it onto a hardrive with windows xp alreayd on it - but i dont want linux to replace it ?

Thanks a lot

1) Your problem is that your resolution is set to high. Try booting with safe settings and set your refresh rate to a lower frequency.

2) Yes, every linux installer will allow you to set up a secondary partition and insatlls a boot loader to dual boot OSes on a single system. Everytime you boot your machine you can choose windows or linux.

there are boot options with linux, like no apci mode, safe boot etc. You should have to hit like F1 or F2 for optional boot settings.
