two monitors on win98

This morning I put a spare video card in the computer so I can use a spare monitor I had (to extend the desktop), it works great except for a problem

When the monitor shuts down, due to the screen saver function, I can not get it back by using the mouse or keyboard, I have to reboot the computer. and the 2nd moniter the screen looks as if it is right out of snyc, with random colored dots all over the screen.

I tried disabling the 2nd monitor (see next posting) but the problem is still there, the main monitor comes off the video card now not like when there was only one monitor, it came off the video section of the mother board.

Oh and another thing the computer will not shut down properly now. (I wonder if there is a CDROM drivers that came with the video card)

Computer specs, please. And you should only use the video card to connect to monitors not use the video card and the connection from the mobo.

Its probably a driver issue if thats what you'r doing, didn't even know that you could have a crt on a onboard vga whilst using a card:eek:

By the way when I said
I tried disabling the 2nd monitor but the problem is still there, the main monitor comes off the video card now not like when there was only one monitor, it came off the video section of the mother board.

thats was by the "right click at desktop" -> Display Properties -> Settings (tab) -> (click on monitor "2") -> untick "Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor"
