I hav a hard drive that has two partitions: 100Gb and 15Gb. XP is running on the 100Gb partition and i would like to install Ubuntu (Linux) on the 15 Gb partition. Do i just format the 15Gb and install Ubunut? And wut file system do i use? FAT32 or NTFS?

Linux uses it's own file system. Just install it on the partition, you should get prompted for format during the install.

Bingo!

I got 15 Ubuntu CD's in the mail today!!! Coincidence?

I think not!!! (Contains the Install CD, AND the LiveCD!)

5 are 64-bit edition, 10 are 32-bit edition. I gave one to my dad already.

So I can spread the open source software! And no I didn't pay for them, you can order up to like 35 I believe free from the ubuntu website. They even pay the shipping, mine came all the way from France to the U.S.!

If I download it I have to burn the .iso files onto CD's for instillation, this just saves me burning time and the cost of the CD-R's.

(I know they are a bit goofy, but they will show you how to do it)

Hey thanx for that instructional video link, it's awesome, pretty funny too :D . hey and how long did it take u guys to get those Ubuntu CD's i ordered some yesterday. Just wondering how long itll take.

Takes a while, I want to say a month but that might be wrong. I just remember going to their site and filling it out, and by the time I got them I had forgotten all about it. Coming from across the world it's expected that the bag was ripped open (customs?) and it took a while. If you're close to France though possibly sooner.

My dad told me "You got a package, it's in your room" when I got home. I at first thought it was the lighter I ordered.
