It can be done, but the easier way is to just buy a power splitter. In that case, couldn't you just unplug one of the other drives? Keep in mind that many SATA drives will accept an ordinary peripheral power connector.
In any case, your idea will work. The easiest way would be to sit the two PCs next to each other and just run the power cable across. Turn on both PCs at the same time, and you shouldn't have any troubles.

Yes you can, some cases actually have slots for two power supplies, it lets you use one for say, all the fans and drives, and the other for just the motherboard and CPU. The trick is getting the other powersupply to turn on and off with the other, since it depends on signals from the motherboard to turn off, otherwise your drives will be on unless you turn it off in the back or unplug it.

On most atx power supplies you can cause them to turn on even when not connected to a motherboard by shorting (connecting) the green wire (should only be one) and any of the black wires. Though you would be doing this at your own risk. if you arn't comfortable with it then don't try it.
