Hey I was just wondering if there are like ranges for temperatures in computers? i mean ive heard like 50 degree C and stuff like that...and i mean i no if i was to touch that i'd burn...so what about computers? is there relay like a safe zone and standard...ive heard to use prime 95....but ive tried it n i have different readings and i cant really tell like if they are safe right now and if i plan to do some o/c'ing as to when mayb i should stop. thanks

There's no "typical" temp, really, as it varies between CPU's, and HSF's. Generally, you never want to exceed 60ºC. You don't really need to worry about CPU temp, as your mobo has a feature in it that it will automatically shut off your computer if the temps get too hot.

CPUs can range from 20ºC (or less from more extreme cooling) - 50ºC. Motherboards, are not to high, should be around 30ºC. Chipset might reach higher temps, not sure what range, usually not a thing to worry about. GPUs can exceed 100ºC and still work because of the way their made, although it's recommended to keep it bellow 80ºC or so. HD are usally around 30ºC sometimes more.

It may vary from pc to pc, but I believe those are most average temps.

EDIT: according to cpu-world.com , the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 max operating tempature is 60ºC. But I would stay under 50ºC to be safe. Even so 50ºC is quite high.
