hey guys,

so im downloading the latest Ubuntu 8.04 to install on my old computer as im going to sell it with Linux on.

Is there anything i should do once its installed?

i want to make it ready so that when they get it home they can just plug it in and go.

Im hoping it will fly on Linux,It was pretty fast with Xp so....

Specs:

AMD Sempron 2800+ 2Ghz
1.25Gb Pc3200
Radeon 9600 pro 256Mb AGP
120Gb Seagate Barracuda IDE hard drive

tks

um, clear cmos to undo any oc's, format drive if not done already, make sure all jumpers are correctly set.

EDIT: Oh, if you want it to be plug in ready, configure bios to show video out of agp card, and make sure they plug the monitor into the video card plug, not the mobo plug.

you don't want the end user, especially if they don't know linux, to go figure what to do, so i suggest you install the proper video players, codecs, d(Oo),flash, java etc etc (if 8.04 doesn't ship with it never used it so i don't know), but you get my general idea !!

Install DVD support.. I don't remember if it comes by default in Hardy, but it doesn't in Gutsy.

You might want to fix up the theme a little too... better wallpaper and maybe a panel background. First impression matters and you want your buyer to be happy with what he/she gets. :)
