Ubuntu Space Question

Okay, I am dual booting Ubuntu 10.04 and Win. 7. When I installed Ubuntu, I downloaded it strait from the website. The ISO installer for Ubuntu's Windows installer only allows for 30GB of hard drive space in Ubuntu. Is there a way that I can add more space from within Windows or Ubuntu??
Or should I just get a new hard drive and install Ubuntu on it??

Are you using the Wubi Installer? It looks like it has a space restriction on it (I had no idea that it did). If you burn the iso to a cd then you can boot off the live cd and install from there. You should be able to use as much as you want of your hard drive for Ubuntu.

I tried with the CD once, but I couldn't figure out how to install it with the Windows still on the hard drive. I did figure out how to do it with erasing the whole hard drive. But I cant do that on this er, because I need the webcam, and Ubuntu dont have the driver for the web-cam.
here is where I downloaded from, I don't know if its wubi or not,. http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/windows-installer

The windows installer is the Wubi installer.

When installing Ubuntu with the live cd, you need to check install them both side by side and then drag the ubuntu partition to the size that you want. The installer will then resize windows and create a partition for ubuntu according to the size that you wanted.

where in the world (the live cd is the world) is the option to install them side by side?
I have downloaded 10.10 on CD and still cant figure it out.

It has the options to Erase the HDD, or choose a partition. However when I choose the free partition (one with free space that windows is on), it says that it needs to format to use. Call me crazy, but don't formatting erase the info?????

well you will need to format the free space to Ext4. As long as you do not change any of the formatting on the NTFS partitions, you should be alright. If you want to downsize your windows partition in windows that might make you feel safer.

well if you right click on computer there should be an option for manage. When that opens up there should be a disk utility tab. You should be able to resize the NTFS partition from there.

I would look for a guide for your specific system just to make sure that you are doing it right. I have always done all my partitioning in Ubuntu so I have not worked with this before.
