Yeah, Just bought this:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-145-263
Not knowing that it isn't compatible with my motherboard:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2758#ov
With no previous knoweldge of memory, I tried to put the DDr3 ram into the DDr2 slots...and i'm pretty sure i fried one of my ram slots, theres a little tiny black hole in the first slot of the yellow slot, I was going to send the ram back to get DDR2 ram, but knowing i have one busted slot seems like a waste of money to me..Wouldn't it be much better to just get a newer, DDR3 compatible motherboard instead of returning my ram and messing with all that? Also, is there a good chance the DDR3 memory is fried as well?? how can I check?

Was looking at THIS: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138197
would it suit my needs? I'm not really sure why it fried, maybe its because i had the stick in wrong or whatever.. But I did recently just put in that power supply, an upgrade from my old sparklepower 400w one, would that have something to do with it? What do you guys recommend?
Cheers from a first time poster! :good:
