ok so its my first post and alot of you may think this is a joke and the rest will think im insane...im not sure if i should post this here or were not because i dont know but anyway....i turn my computer off, and at random points in the night, it starts picking up a voice, i cant understand what it says but i swear its spanish, i dont speak fluent spanish but i did it at school and know enough to know when somebody is speaking it, i got farely good speakers and i would imagine they are shielded well from interference there logitech ones, plus were i live is al ittle place in the uk called Avening and there aint a spanish person in a 10 mile radius, now if i turn off my computer at the mains it goes away, but that stops me from running stuff overnight on my computer, and this thing is freaking me out and sometimes its loud enough to wake me up and when it does i cant sleep for a few hours afterwards lol, it sounds wierd and odd but i just dont know what it could be, was hoping maybe someone here experience it or something similair and could help point me in the right direction, sorry for the long post this late/early, but any help would be appreciated

chris

unplug your speakers.

or check where the cord runs. One time I was working on a computer and the end of my headphone cord touched the inside of the case it would pick up radio disney which was really weird.

Ya ^ often times open wires hooked up to speakers/amps can pick up radio frequencies.
I live next to a radio tower so my guitar amp picks up a signal on AM radio.

ever hear

Have you ever heard the buzzing/humming/clicking sound from walls? It used to freak me out to hear the WALLS making noise. So I looked it up and realized that its from wireless signals, cell phones, radio stations, shortwave radios (these can transmit all over the world), etc...

The wires in your home, computer, speakers can pickup these waves just like an antenna. What your probably hearing is a spanish radio station or the such.

Its weird, I'll give you that. Unplug your speakers or plug a pair of headphones into your computer at night.

I'm really sorry but I laughed out loud for a while. I don't think you're insane, though.

haha yeah everyone ive told has pissed themselves laughing at me, it happened again last night but never freaked me as much, but the sound seems to be coming from my monitor , not sure, gonna test it later on tonight and unplug my speakers, see if i can still hear it or not, wasnt sure my monitor had speakers tbh, although it does have a headphone slot on the back of the monitor... its an LG W2261VP-PF 22" HD monitor

No speakers on Monitor
But any noise, especially humming type noise, can mean the Monitor may be dieing.
If you have warranty, replace it

Before you go to bed draw a circle around your computer and put lighted candles around it, it needs to be exorcised :D

Seriously, I would think that your computer circuitry somehow is picking up stray radio frequencies. Maybe taxi, CB radio etc transmitting and a harmonic by a matched frequency in your computer circuitry is causing it.

Find someone fluent in Spanish... you may find yourself discovering a drug ring or something...

Has anyone heard that myth where some actress picked up morse code through her metal fillings in her teeth? She supposedly discovered some Japanese drug ring.

The inverter inside your monitor may be resonating what your electrical lines are picking up. However, what monitor do you have? Some displays have speakers built into them..

No, but I've heard that an old woman picked up radio frequencies from metal fillings.

But yeah, I'll +1 all the posts about stray radio frequencies.
