I was watching this program on the discovery channel called who are you calling stupid or something and it's about were people to stupid stuff that sometimes turns out to be good, so getting to the point this guy was carrying his PC and dropped the whole thing in oil by accident and his PC still worked and later on he found out that oil doesn't conduct electricity thats why his comp did not blow up. He later told his mate what happened who then got a tank took all the hardware out of his tower and then he put them in the tank (apart from his hard drive) including the heat syncs with the fans attached and filled the tank with oil. He turned his PC and it was working fine with no drawbacks and because oil is a better coolant then air every aspect of his PC was running cooler/colder. Imagine in the future we by tank with our PC and then we have to fill it with oil

oil... yea thatd work except i wonder what the thermal conductivity is, and maybe they could find a specific oil. either way im sure copper is better, but oil could be better than air either way... of course then theres waterrr...
and also, HOW WOULD I BRING THAT TO A LAN! be like oh hey there he is with his.. er tub of oil? hahaha

god, the fans will wear out really fast!

i think the only part of the computer you could put in is the motherboard. cdrws and hard drives and stuff wouldnt work.

Ok if we will be putting oil in are computers then why not just get a briggs and stratton 6hp engine, some gasoline and a blade....There now you can cut the grass with it.

lol. The guy on the interview said he used vegetable oil because it was the cheapest he could find and he siund that he ran hi pc like that for 6 months and nothing happend apart from he oil leaking ou of his mouse. How i dnt know but any way that wouldnt be a problem if u have wire-less mouse and keyboard :)

He put everything his graphics card mother board ram sound card everything apart from stuff that moves (cd drive n hard drive) but the fans stayed.

I just got an idea put a massive neon lighting in the oil and the whole thing would be that colour so u will have a tub of neon blue glowing oil!!!

Why not? They wouldnt be opening in a submerssed environment :) You would need to have a good seal tho

Distilled water doesn't conduct electricity either
On a practical level perhaps but they still conduct

Cuz the harddrives dont like those kinds of Gs

If you oil cooled your comp I would like to see you upgrade it
1. Get new part
2. Install
3. Enjoy :)

Why, theres no difference, its gonna be plunged into the oil anyway.... not as if you have to spend hours cleaning the connections, it doesnt conduct electricity so.....

Cuz when its in the freezer you have to deal with condensation EVERYWHERE. Also, standard freezers arent that cold.
