ok my parents have decided to get a desktop from nebraska furniture mart......its got a 3500+ 1gb ram 250GB hdd a built in tv tuner and a pci slot i believe......i could get a new psu and a 6800GT for this........or i could talk my parents into just letting me get my $700 computer only adding to the fund a little....
 
you mean "PCI-E" right? cuz 1 "PCI" slot isn't that great lol.

hmm...considering the $700 computer will probably include better brand/quality i'd probably still stick with that.

but if you know the other computer has good quality parts and pretty fast RAM, it might be a good deal and you can upgrade it later. jsut see if the MOBO/RAM are pretty nice.
 
If it's cheap you could buy it and then just harvest it for parts (I do that to most dells).
 
Well at this point we have a very primative overview of what's in the box ... so ... what exactly are the system specs for the machine you're [potentially] getting and how mcuh is it?
