Umbuntu dual boot with Win2000?

Can I dual boot this on my pc? I am running windows 2000 and would like to try ubuntu. If so, How do I go about doing it?
 
get a good partitioner and partition the win2000 hard drive into 2.
And when you boot ubuntu simply select the new partition created off win2000.
or get a new hard drive and add it to your PC, when booting ubuntu simply select it, nothing huge about dual booting Linux and windows
 
iif windows complains after you've done that and it doesnt work, format one partition and install windows on it FIRST. If you put linux on it and then windows it will lose the boot loader.
 
download an ubuntu live cd, load it up, and click the install icon on the desktop. you dont have to partition anything yourself as patrick said. just tell ubuntu how much space it gets and it will shrink down the windows partition and make room for itself on the drive. the hardest thing you have to do is pick out your keyboard layout and time zone.
