So basically i just reinstalled windows on my computer, hoping it was going to erase my harddrive completely and start "fresh". This did not happen! I logged on, everything looked and seemed new, but i checked out local disk space and...only 18gb free of 75gb! I thought everything else was supposed to get removed! How do i remove it! When i start up it gives me 2 options Windows xp pro and windows xp pro. So i select the recently installed one but how do i get rid of the old?

Put in your XP CD. Boot from CD. Setup will load files. When it says create new install etc. Do the create new. It will show partitions. Delete them all. Create a new partition. Install Windows.

Make sense?

If I missed any steps please someone jump in :)

I already installed a new account without deleting any partitions. Is there anyway i can keep this account but go back and delete the other partition?

Yea i know, but i just installed a bunch of stuff (drivers, avg, etc.) Well I guess i could just re-install again. So to delete a partition, i select that specific partition and hit the key that deletes it?
 
I ran into another problem =[ It said i could not delete the partition because "there are files required to complete the installation process" on that partition. ???

? I'd wipe the freakin HD. Easiest to do it in another computer in windows. Otherwise try deleting the other partition 1st. Then the next one. Then make a new one and start over. That's just me.

Go to the accessories/ system tools/ and the hard drive manager under them. They're an Admin tools thing. Sorry I can't recall the exact naming convention atm. Then select that drive and format it. Viola blank HD. Then go back in old system and install XP. :D
