Unable to Access USB Mp3 Player?

Guys, I have a problem. I can't access my USB MP3 player with BitDefender Total Security installed. I can access it fine on another partition w/o BitDefender installed, which leads me to the following speculations:

(1) Microchip in USB MP3 player houses a trojan/virus, and shuts down the USB drive when it detects an anti-virus software, but allows it to "roam" in absense of AV. (Keep in mind this is a relatively cheap MP3 player, so the manufacturer really has no reputation to uphold anyways, should a real trojan/virus be discovered hard-wired into their devices).

(2) Something about BitDefender acting as the middle man in I/O between devices and the OS.

Any help?

I doubt that it has a virus in the player. That would be financial suicidal on the part of the manufacturer. Winamp has a function to recognize external pen drives, mp3 players. I have a philips go gear , and it will only be recognized within the music match program, witch is a nightmare to use.
Is the music on the player DRM´d ?
