Hi Guys, i just bought a new 500Gb WD, SATA HDD. when i installed my HDD in my PC, i booted it up. it installed, then i checked "My Computer". i couldn't find my HDD. i know i need to format it first but i couldn't find it also in "Disk Management". but the weird thing is that, i checked Everest Ultimate, i can see my HDD there, in the storage tab. btw, i'm using a 80gb IDE drive as my primary Drive. the MoBo i'm using is a Gigabyte 945GCM-S2L. tnx in advance guys :D

Hey it seems to be a common problem to Xp users. I myself use XP Pro and my computer has not once detected my hard drive (on boot) but it still works lol.
I have heard also that XP can have detetcion problems with larger HDD's and that if XP doesn't have Service Pack 2 it won't detect higher than 130GB.

Somoeone managed ot fix there problem by using a program "Tweak UI" and clicking on My Computer, Drives, and check marking Drive F

Also if you are using an IDE hardrive you may have to research a bit on setting jumpers up if you already haven't. You likely have to set your HDD to eb recognized as a "slave".

Anyway hope it helps

Since your other drive is IDE, you might not have any Sata drivers installed. Its probable part of the chipset drivers, try reinstalling them. And see if it shows up in Disk Management then.
