I am running Win 7 and IE 8.0 and have been for about 6 months. Suddenly I am unable to delete the browser history (except manually, one by one). Not sure what happened. Any ideas?

Personally, I would just switch to Mozilla Firefox or Opera. Or download CCleaner and run it to clear the history out.

Interesting discussions. By the way, even CCleaner doesn't delete the history.

Are you logged in on an Administrator account? Do you have any antivirus software/etc installed? If so, what? You might try disabling your AV for a minute just to see if that does the trick. Have you got the latest updates for Windows and IE8? Can you delete the history in Safe Mode with Networking?

First open "control panel" then click "Internet Options". Look under the "browsing history" section on the General Tab. Click "Delete", a box will pop up with a bunch of check boxes. Select what you want to delete and hit "Delete". Their is also an option to delete them automatically when you close IE.
