Undervolting

So yesterday i began to undervolt my Q6600. Seeing that I'm not OCing, I dropped the stock voltage of 1.25v to 1.16 volts. Under normal operations, my CPU runs at 1.6ghz with 1.16 volts at about 38º (7 degree drop). When I'm gaming, or doing anything that requires CPU power, my CPU kicks back up to 2.4ghz and 1.25v. So far I'm liking my temperature drop :).

Nice. :)
Thanks for sharing i bet a few Q6600 owners would love this information. :)

Oops, just realize that I posted this in the wrong section. It'd be nice if a mod can take the time to move it :).

Did you install your Ninja passively? If so that's a great idle temperature. Do have both exhaust (top and back) fans installed?

How hot does it get under load?

Yeah my Ninja's passive. I have a total of two case fans: a scythe S-Flex SFF21D 800rpm fan on the top and another Scythe fan slowed down to 700 rpm on the back. Under heavy load (dual instances of orthos), my core temperature reaches about 60ºC.

Those are exceptionally good temps for a q6600!!! Great job! Actually those setting are basically the same thing as changing your power options in windows to power-saver mode. If you watch your volts and speed when you change it from power-saver to performace you will see the same thing happen!

Hm, I think my stock voltage for reduced speed is higher than 1.16v (but lower than 1.25v)
