i have some programs that when i go to uninstall them it says error and wont let me uninstall it. how can i get around this? TIA

Most programs can be removed with the ADD/REMOVE found in the Control Panel. If it is not seen there press the ctrl-alt-delete keys or right click on the task bar to bring up the task manager to end the programs there. Then return to the add/remove to see if it is then listed for removal. See if that gets them removed.

Now try the task manager to end the program you are trying to remove. Some programs are stubborn as heck until you unload them from Windows making them sleep. When you open the task manager the second tab will be for the processes that are currently running. Highlight the program listing there and press the "end process" button at the bottom right of that window.

The more tedious method is to restart the system and press the F8 key to enter the boot menu just prior to Windows starting to load. You then choose the Safe Mode option there and continue to boot the system. Once at the desktop you try the add/remove again with only the Windows basics running.

The other thing you can try is running the msconfig utility to see if it is listed in the startup group there. You open that by typing msconfig at the Run prompt off of the Start menu and pressing enter. When the screen comes up go to the last tab on the right side to open up the group. Once you have restarted the system afterwards the program will be inactive and readt to be removed. A question to ask here is what is the name of the program. You may have to download an uninstaller.

What kind of program is it? Some have uninstallers that you have to obtain. Some require that you are connected online..

Were they tryouts or full downloads? The name(s) would help here especially if it turned out that one or more was some type of adware.

studio 9 (paid
gta san andreas (paid
gta vice city (paid

and a few others.

when i go to uninstall thru control panel, it says file not found. when i try that thing from the link above its not listed

Are you ready for manual removal? The clear out the system registry one free tool will also list all programs installed and running on the system. Since you already know the names you need a good regisry cleaner to selectively remove the entries for each of those and then simply remove the folders from the Program Files directory. RegCleaner is one that not only clears out invalid and orphaned registry values but display all program listings. http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads15.html

To run this one you simply go to the "tools" link on the explorer bar when it opens and drop to the registry cleaner where another menu drops down on the right side. From there choose the "do them all" at the bottom. Once RegCleaner has finished it's run browse the list of entries to check the ones for the three programs you are trying to remove and then press "remove" at the bottom right next to the exit button. Just be sure that you look these over carefully to avoid removing something else. With the reg entries gone just drag the folders for the three programs into the recycle bin and say....
"GOOD BYE"!
