Uninstall

I have this program/game which I cannot uninstall, have tried both windows uninstaller and the uninstaller of the game, neither of them worked, in both cases I get the following error message:

F:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
(then I can choose between to buttons:)

Close Ignore

And when I pick Close it does not get any far.
The same if I pick Ignore.

I really have no idea what to do and it really irritates me.

So therefore I am requesting for help.

From the START menu on the task bar you can go to Setting to enter Control Panel and look for the Add/Remove icon. Or you can double click on the MyComputer icon for Control Panel there if the folder options have it set to diplay the icon there. Once you get into Control Panel and double click on the Add/Remove icon a pop up screen will display the programs and services that are installed on your system. Locate the "remove" button to the right of the column to have Windows uninstall the game for you.

Assuming you are running XP or 2000 any dos based softwares will not run on an NTFS based OS without a utility to create a virtual dos shell. There is one such called Msdosbox that could also help with removal by executing that game's uninstaller. This would be too involved here for what you need. A few links here can be reviewed for reference however. Try the add/remove to see if that works now. If you still have problems with removal post back here.

If you later want to try running even an old 8 bit dos app thru a virtual dos window the Dosbox found at: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1 as well as Defender Pro are two recently located. Dosbox was the better one to go with when both were tried out.

I get the exact same error message as when trying to use the program's own uninstall program.

I had the problem trying to INSTALL a program, but found a nice fix. GOTO C:/Windows/Repair and copy the autoexec.nt and put a copy into your C:/Windows/system32, and retry uninstalling. Everything should work great. (remember, COPY the file, don't MOVE it.)

Can that piece of information be confirmed as being proper?

Diddy, I had a problem where I was unable to remove some photo editing program from HP; it wasn't found in Add/Remove Programs, there weren't any Uninstall options, nothing. I tore my hair out for three days. After five minutes on Google I found that I had to UPDATE the program first in order to uninstall it! (thanks for nothing, HP!) That update took an hour and a half, just to let me get rid of the program.
I'd try "<program name> uninstall problems" in Google, see what turns up.

That is a pretty long explanation, and you have to do a lot of things which I know nothing about. And I have never tried to format my computer. And if there is no easy way then I guess I have to keep it.
