Uninstalling programmes

I wanted to uninstall some programmes, mainly games that my children no longer play, but they are not in the add/remove list and some dont have an uninstaller. Is there another way that I can uninstall them please? Thanks.

Navigate to their respective folders in the Program Files.
Most of the time, these programs will have something called, "UNWISE.exe" or "UNWISE"
This is the uninstaller.

You can use various uninstallers, aswell as enter the registry and delete the registry files of it ( wouldn't enter there wihtout a reason ). It is good idea to delete all files and folders, and just use registry cleaner. There are couple I know, ask if you want links.

Thanks for all your replies. The thing is this, I had a certain uninstaller, I dont know if I can mention its name here so I wont, and I uninstalled a game and afterwards when I checked I found out that all my programmes were not in the list of installed applications even though they are all working fine.Everything I installed after this is in the list again. It even removed the entries in the add/remove of the control panel. Now I want to delete some applications no longer needed and I cant find them, and they dont even have the UNWISE.exe.

What do you think benji?
This looks like some virus to me.
I need your oppinion.

now that you mention it, yes, there is a virus that does this. i forgot the name but it removes all uninstallers and sometimes the main exe for the program.
he shud do a scan too

there are 3rd party uninstallers you can use. they're not free.

try out smarty uninstaller, your uninstaller, advancd uninstaller, etc

these will also look for "hidden" uninstallers and may take care of your situation.

  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

This all is to search some Malwares.

Hello!
There are quite a few infections here. I am not sure did this cause all your problems...but I could give my left hand it will be somehow better after the fix.
OK, I guess the first part of the fix is following, please deeply concentrate.
You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=43811
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

C:\PROGRA~1\Crawler\Toolbar\CMail.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\Crawler\Toolbar\CToolbar.exe
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1CB20BF0-BBAE-40A7-93F4-6435FF3D0411} - C:\PROGRA~1\Crawler\Toolbar\ctbr.dll

Click Fix selected. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.

Yes there are couple of them. There is the best and the most important at the Bleeping Computer.
Also there is a link to it on MalwareRemoval if you want to learn more about the infections and fixes.
Castle Cops too have a nice one on their site.
OK, I've written the best ones. Of course I don't mean to underrastimate any others just this ones are fairly enough good to learn on them.
Good luck and enjoy.
