Uninstalling Vista Installing XP

That laptop should run Vista just fine.

But, if your prejudice is too overwhelming to try it, then yes,
you can reformat and install XP.

I would take care not to delete the Recovery Partition, in case
you want to go back to stock, as you bought it.

Just a note you might have to go online and download drivers. When I did my HP i had to use a different computer to download drivers as XP would not reconize my wireless or NIC so just a thought to keep in mind.

My technicians and I have downgraded several hundred machines. You need to do some research to make sure it is possible. Chances are the manufacturer has the drivers to downgrade to XP but they are not always where they should be. the best thing to do is use google to find them. "[insert model number] XP drivers" usually will do the trick. sometimes you will have to sacrifice something like a fingerprint reader, EZ touch keys or even a camera, but it is almost always worth it to go back to the XP goodness. Hopefully they get windows 7 right, I am not holding my breath.

Hey, so i personally hate Vista. And i know its not just me  So anyways I'm ordering a new laptop. Its being shipped to be as we speak. And it has vista 64 bit. I was wondering if i could just format the computer (i have to get arid of the bloatware anyways). And install windows XP, i have a disk already. Heres the link to the laptop.

Very good choice on the laptop. I personally love XP better over vista any day. But Acer should have the drivers on the support website. download them first before you wipe the pc clean. Keep the recovery partition on there in case you want to revert back. If your laptop comes with recovery DVD's, Then do not worry about keeping the partition, Just wipe it clean.
