Hi,

I recently bought a new HP laptop which has windows 10 install from factory and there is no option for windows 7 at all. I inserted windows 7 disk to install windows 7 but i got an error page and after disabling secure boot in bios error disappeared. I now get the installation page screen freezes/stops and won't go any forward ...

Cd works fine with other laptops.

laptop spec:
HP 15-ay036na Intel core i5 6200U 2.30MHz
12gb SDRAM DDR4
2TB HDD

thanks for any help.

Why in the world would you downgrade to windows 7? You will have one hell of a mess with windows 7 updates not working anyway.

Not sure why the install won't go through though.

the software i am using only works with windows 7 and older...I know windows 10 of no use to me at all and i wont be regretting it.

kindly let me know if i need to try anything else..

You may need to play with BIOS settings. If there is an option for legacy boot, try that as well. But I have to tell you. There may not be Win 7 drivers available for that laptop. Check HP's website first.

I don't see why going back to Windows 7 seems so out of this world...Windows 10 is terrible for legacy applications. In fact I'm thinking about reverting my computers to Windows 7. At least with it my computers were stable and worked with my software properly.

I'd say give it a shot, just leave your recovery partition in tact so if it does go south you can revert to factory. Like mentioned, try Legacy Boot, or if you have a UFI BIOS try changing it to BIOS compatibility mode or the like if you have that option.

there are three kinds of men.those who learn by reading.those few who learn by observation.the rest have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.good advice was given.the rest is in your court.
