Unknown alert screen?

Every time I load up windows xp about 5-10min later an alert screen pops up telling me:

"Update.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close"

I have no idea what update.exe is and was wondering why this screen constantly pops up every time I start up win xp.

Update.exe is a very common file name. Were your or do you remember running a particular program previously before that happened? Updates to any of your programs?
 
I can't remember if I was running a program in the background when it came up at times. I know it also comes up when nothing at all is running, like when windows is booting up.
