unknown folder on my c drive

I recently reformatted and installed a new hard drive on my pc and installed xp pro 2. Today a new folder is on my c drive and I have no idea where it came from. It's name is 85d7c43c1cc2c947f6c38617. It is a text file. Any ideas? Thanks, Don

Well open it, if it doesnt say anything horribly important, delete it.

Yea scan it for a virus then open it to see what it is.

Thats a windows update log file they always do this. Look into it it will tell u exactly where it went and what it did.

You can delete it, there is no use for it. It is just a Log of an XP install.

how do I know if it is critical?

If it is a text file it won't be critical, a log file will be for information only. A text file has no use in the running of a program and can be deleted but read it first to see if it is of any use, ie "telling you something".

If you are paranoid about it do a "print screen" and post it up here so it can be looked at.
