Unknown red switch

Hi, I just noticed that on that back of my computer, where all the wires are, there's this very small red switch under the power supply. If I flip it to one side, it says "230" and if I flip it to the other side, it says "115". I tried looking at the manual for my computer but it doesn't say what it is.
Is this some type of power switch?

(And perhaps this is the reason why my computer always restarts suddenly and saying it recovered from serious error? People told me it has to do with an uneven power supply or fan not working, which my fan works perfectly.)

thats the input voltage selector for your psu. the numbers you mention are for the supply voltage, 230V and 115V.
make sure the switch is in the correct position before turning your system on

Whatever you do, dont flip that switch when the PC is on or even if its just plugged in..... just dont, it will explode.....

And about your random restarts, it could well be that the amperage on the PSU's main V rails inst high enough, consider buying a new PSU.....

Ive flicked the switch before................... Wasnt good! I tried to replace the fuse in PSU, plugged it in, turned into a smoke machine! Somehow, ALL the componets survived (Apart from the PSU of course) and I put them in an old dell and sold it for £160 (I spend £40 upgrading a £30 computer = £Lotsa Profit!)

It will not explode! If you go to 230 on a 115v line, it'll just try to run but won't do anything. I mean, this is a bit of a duh because you're giving it half the power that it needs! I was once given a machine that didn't work. In the end, it was simply that switch that was set wrong! It worked fine after I flipped it back.

Now, I suppose it could explode if you go from 230 to 115. I don't think it'll be anything spectacular though, probably just a pop and some smoke.

It wouldn't explode, just blow a fuse, which iI think even the cheapest PSU's have, buy them in bulk and they cost about 13cent's each, i have a box of 30,000, don't ask why I dont feel like explaining it.
