Unlocked cell phones..

dont unlocked cell phones/mobiles just mean that u can put any networks SIM card in and it works - so ur not tyed down to one network?

As i understand them they do not come with service, you buy the phone, own it outright but it requires a simcard or such from a service provider to get service. Also they are not connected to any particular network making them usable with most if not all service providers.
