Unlocking L3 Cache without unlocking 4th core?

So i have an Athlon X3 435 on an ASRock 880GHX mobo and i was wondering if theres any way to unlock the L3 cache without having to unlock the 4th core. the 4th core is defective, which is why im asking.

Thanks.

Depends on the bios. In the ACC options, if you have a setting to enable or dsiable each core. Then yes.

so what do you mean then? i do have the ability to do that im pretty sure. so if i have the ACC function on and i just choose to stay with the 3 cores, i will be able to use the L3 cache?

What happens when all the cores are unlocked..?? (no post, bios resets, crashes while loading windows, etc..)

Depending on the severity of the defective core it could just need a voltage bump. What is your Vcore being set to by default.... ?

If you enable all the cores then disable the faulty one using the bios... save and exit ..does this not enable the cache and leave the defective core disabled ...???

So when i have the 4th core core enabled, it boots but its really buggy. Firefox cant stay open for longer than a minute and i get crash reports.

Im not too sure about the voltage bump but i could definitely give it a try. how much should i go up? and how do i know when to stop?

so when you say enable all the cores, do you mean enable ACC so that it shows all the cores and their overclocking values, and then just disable the defective one?

Thanks for the input :)

ok so stock voltage is 1.325v and i have it at 1.35 now. it still is buggy and worker #2 stops working because of hardware failure in prime95 (thats core3 right? or 2?)

and when i have 4th core unlocked, it switches from Aero theme to regular Win7 non-Aero theme.

I would try upto 1.4vcore and the core + voltage will add heat so keep an eye on your temps when running the stability test. If 1.4vcore is unstable then reduce it to 1.375vcore and increase the CPU/NB voltage to 1.2v and you can go upto 1.3v but it will add some heat. If you can, try to feel it out if the voltage is helping or not.
