every now and then at the bottom right had corner of my screen i get a message that says " warning +3.3v voltage 2.952" whats it mean guys am i in trouble? do i need to worry is there anything i need to look at?
:(

thx

If that message is from a legitimate program then it's saying your psu isn't working within tolerances. What power supply are you using?

I agree in full. Running a computer on a low qualty psu are like driving a car with a bad engine. Better to get a quality 650 - 700 W psu than a cheap 1000W....Wich for most setups are overkill anyway.

Antec, CoolerMaster and Corsair have nice psu's that comes with a resonable price tag.

fair enough will i be ok with this psu for a little bit or do i need to shut this beast down till i can get a new one

It's up to you. On the one hand, it's been running for how long with only random voltage fluctuations. On the other hand, any part can fail at any time; the difference in this case is that the PSU can take other parts with it, as opposed to say RAM or a HDD, which would just cause performance issues. As far as sooner vs later, it all depends on how much of a chance you want to take. Personally, if it were me and I had the means to replace it, I'd opt for sooner.

The importance of a name-brand, quality PSU cannot be understated.

I would replace sooner rather than later. If that thing goes out and takes out any other components with it you'll be in a world of hurt and regret for not fixing it sooner.

The software is almost certainly mis reporting the 3.3V rail. Very common. Only thing that is powered by that is the RAM. I am sure its fine. There is nothing wrong with that PSU. Any issue with it is probably the massive underload it has to handle.

Check the 3.3V rail in the BIOS or with a multimeter.
