It is definitely worth spending the money to get a 640GB hard drive. However, you get the most from your money with the 1.5TB hard drive. Sadly, the 2TB option is grossly overpriced and out of stock, and does not prove to be a viable option.

Best Everyday value: 640GB Samsung

Nice. I'm going to stick this until the end of the month. Do you plan on updating it every few months?

I'm going to unstick this, if someone wants to update it send me a pm and I can edit the post.

50% gave it 5 stars. Most of the complaints were due to the firmware issues that were resolved several months ago.

+1

I wrote an article about this a while ago actually. An alarming number of them were bricking for no apparent reason, which like Mike said, was found to be caused by a firmware issue.

Last I heard, it was fixed, and now they are excellent drives.

The prices and best value drives have likely changed they were for the original run back in April.

Also, I'm unsticking this thread again. It's a bit out of date.
