Hey guys,

so I finally updated to windows 7 (yea i know it took me awhile). Now I'm installing all my drivers and I noticed that I only have 30gb left of my 160 gb hard drive. Where is all this data being used by? Did my computer partition my old stuff on it? I clicked do a full install so it should have wiped everything from my old computer I thought. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Mike

Go to the Root of your HDD (C:\) and check to see if there are any folders called *.old. If so, delete them.

You obviously did not delete all the partitions and formatted the HDD properly.
Boot to the Windows 7 disk, delete ALL the partitions until you have only UNALLOCATED SPACE left and then select that UNALLOCATED SPACE and click NEXT to install Windows 7 to that.It will automatically create 1 partition which uses the entire HDD and format it before the installation.

Cheers!

ok so there definitely is an .old file. If I just delete that folder will I get all my space back?

You'll get whatever space that folder takes up. Just be sure to get any user or program data you want to keep out of that folder before you delete it.
