I have an old Dell Dimension t600r. Trying to fix it up a bit so the kids can use it. Just upgraded the ram and need a new vid card(there is lines all across the screen).

My question is............What kind of card do I get? My motherboard only says agp and I'm finding agp4x 8x? I'm confused. What is compatible:confused:

well, theres AGP2x, 4x, 2/4x (2/4 meaning the mobo is compatible with both)
4/8x (again, mobo compatible with both) and AGP8x.
there's also AGPpro, but thats irrelevant.

ive looked it up...click the link and see if this is your machine.

if so, im afraid its AGP2x for you.

either AGP2x, or a PCI video card.

Thanks. When I looked up the current video card in hardware setup it said my card was installed in a pci slot even though I opened up the pc and it was in an agp slot:confused: Anyways I was able to find the correct name of the slot through display settings. IT is installed in a agp 2X slot just as you said. Thanks for the help

Well I have an agp 1.0 slot. Some say I can use 4x some say I can't. Jesus christ.........what CAN I use?

... Usually 2x slots can go up to 4x... but some can only go from 1x and 2x... Here, with your CPU speed, I'd recommend:

GeForce2 MX200 32MB AGP

GeForce3 Ti320 AGP

GeForce4 Ti4200

GeForce4 MX420/440/460
