Updating my computer...

Hi, I'm trying to update my computer because its really not very good...I have a measly 18GB of hard disk drive space so I'd like to get an additional hard drive, and I currently have an 1.10GHz AMD Duron processor with 248MB of RAM that I want to replace...I'm also looking to get a new video card that will allow me to play graphics intensive games like the sims 2...the one I have now is a VIA Tech VT8361/VT8601 Graphics Controller, which will allow me to play the sims 2, but is very slow and choppy. I dont know if you need more info than that, but I'd like to hear any feedback on how to go about this and which products I should consider.

Well, according to what you said above ^, i think that you should buy or build a new computer because pretty much all of your hardware will need replacing (eg. 18GB HDD  ), so i would say that buying a new pc or building would be a better option.

We need yourmotherboard make and model or at least the socket (im presuming Socket A), that your working with,

well i havent had problems with any of my dells, and it really depends or ur budget. And also the sims 2 doesnt take just intense pc requirements.

dont even start talking about dell cause i have a feeling that this thread will get out of hand, lol.

Like bigsaucybob said, you dont' need that great of a graphics card to play sims 2. You might wana upgrade to 512mb of ram or even a gig (depending on your budget). And you have to make sure that your motherboard has an agp slot before buying a new graphic card. If it doesn't then you're stuck with a pci card.
