The download you have might be for the version opposite to the one you have..

Double check that the upgrade bundle you're trying to use is for Kaiser, and not Hermes.. that could be the problem. Another issue could be that the upgrade bundle you have is for another provider (e.g: You have TMobile, but the upgrade is for Vodafone).

Here is some reading material for you:

Hermes (TyTN) Wiki
Kaiser (TyTN II) Wiki

You should also check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/ for more info. They have a section dedicated to each version and they'll be able to help you more there :)

PS: If there is no WM6.1 upgrade available specifically for your provider and phone, you can consider unlocking your phone and using one of the many ROMs available on xda-developers to deploy the WM6.1 upgrade :)

sorry i didnt reply earlier my computer is off to fi x. now i am on my dad's laptop ,which is a very rare occurance, but thanks anyway will check out the reading info:):):)

more than likely it would involve either unlocking the phone or flashing it to a different OS. But as both involve messing around with the registry I'm a bit skeptical...

Neither should involve changing the registry.. however, when you flash a new ROM, you wipe all applications from the phone so make sure you back up your phonebook, emails and applications (Outlook does a good job for the phonebook and email, download backups of your applications to re-install them after you upgrade the ROM).

If you haven't yet, I highly recommend posting on xda-developers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/) and ask about the upgrade procedure for your specific phone.. someone will most definitely have done it recently and can help you more than myself.

Generally speaking, all you do is unlock your phone with a small application built to unlock your specific device, then you can run the ROM upgrade of your choice (so long as it is build specifically for your phone/provider) and you're done :)

Again, I highly recommend chatting it up on xda-developers.com forums to verify this info, as it's different with every device.

this is the link to the Download page for your phone:

this is the the wm 6.1 page. just put your serial number and answer the two questions.
sorry if you've already got this far, or been tried it already.

lemme know if this helps.

BTW i have the HTC Touch for Alltel, so i've been through the same thing. GL

The problem the OP faced was that the upgrade wasn't available for his/her device. Most likely a carrier issue.

Aside from that, the one you're linking to is a generic upgrade option, which will erase all carrier customizations. The carrier specific customizations are generally built into the ROM.

The TyTN II is GSM, so not having customizations may or may not disable the phone from working properly on his/her carrier, but generally speaking, data and messaging won't work without customizations.

This leads me to xda-developers.com, where the OP can find a carrier specific ROM for his/her phone, which will include the customizations.. whether it be a carrier specific official ROM, or a 3rd party ROM that requires the phone to be unlocked.

I have the Vogue (CDMA Touch) and Mogul (Titan), and have used both official and 3rd party methods. The TyTN II and Titan are sister models, and the Vogue is an upgraded, smaller form factor of the Titan (less a few features, e.g: Wifi). So, the upgrade process for the TyTN II should be similar to the Titan and Vogue.

yes, i also had the Alltel Mogul. and now have the Alltel Vouge. and i did the exact process i previously mentioned on both phone. so unless there IS something special that his carrior did, or just the GSM side of it, go for it.

side note: the xda... is a GREAT site.
