upgrade bios?

hi all well here it is in a nutshell!......i was sittin at my pc doin some work when a box popped up and told me i needed to upgrade the bios on my computer. does this really need too be done or could it be spyware? it also said i needed a bios card of some type. how do i go about getting this?.........plz help!!!!

That definetly could be spyware, post a highjack this log in the computer security section.

yess, but only do it if it is EXTREMELY necessary, if you screw with the BIOS, you can screw your whole system up.

I would install Spybot and Ad-Aware first before messing with the BIOS. Then if the message still pops up then try to update the BIOS.

If a box like that popped up on MY screen, I'd be running every anti-spyware and anti-virus program I could, immediately. Only update your BIOS if absolutely necessary, and even then, think twice!
