little challenge for you peeps

since my psu just blew i have a dismal feeling that its probably going to have taken something with it, motherboard is a distinct possibility so in light of that im considering upgrading

would like to give core 2 duo a bash but on a budget.

i would need:

CPU
Motherboard
Memory
Graphics card

and i wanna try and keep it to around £300, less if you can

now im not after the dogs danglys of gaming machines, so the graphics card can be a budget one. To give you an idea i've been perfectly happy with my Radeon 9550 AGP for some time now, it does everything i require of it.

If i do play games im not too fussed about them being at the highest possible graphic level, im more interested in the gameplay.

so lets see what you can do peeps

uk sellers remember

cheers for your help

errrr thats kinda the idea, see what you can find round uk sellers, i'm hoping that some of the people here know where to find some good bargains and can point me in the right idrection

best i can manage so far is around the £350 mark for an E6300, 7600GS, 1gb DDR2 and new mobo..

anyone do a bit better?

EBUYER:
E6300 - £104.41,
1GB DDR2 Memory PC5400 - £75.66
7600GS - £74.45
Total - £254.52

DABS:
E6300 - £124.53
1GB DDR2 Memory PC5400 - £74.29
7600GS - £77.65
Total - £276.47

SCAN:
E6300 - £116.30
1GB DDR2 Memory PC5400 - £74.60
7600GS - £71.39
Total - £262.29

The above 3 sites are, in my opinion, the cheapest 3 in the UK. I don't know enough about C2D and motherboard compatibility to suggest one, though.

EDIT: Doing this myself has made me realise exactly how cheap C2D actually is. I don't know enough about motherboards in this area though.

aye this was what made me think, i priced up with motherboard and came to around the £350 mark,

ebuyer price of the e6300 isnt including vat so scan seems to come out cheapest

so taking the e6300 from scan, memory from dabs and the 7600gs from scan then im looking at £261.98 so far...hmmmm very tempting

cheers for your help so far

anyone suggest a decent motheboard to go with the core 2 duo, doesnt need to be an amazing board, i wont be overclocking, just something reliable and stable :)

cheers, anymore suggestions would be welcomed.

may loko into picking some of these bits up over the next couple of weeks...£350 for a core 2 duo system...not bad really :)
