I just upgraded to vista and i would like my computer to work alot faster. would you guys recomend just getting a new 64bit p4 processor thats faster or do the whole mother board and processor with more memory..the memory I have right now is 2 sticks of pc 2700 512 mb thanks for the help

Correct me if I'm wrong people, but I don't believe there is a 64 bit processor in socket 478. You'll need to get a new motherboard, processor, and RAM.

Also, 64 bit capability will do nothing for you. It will not improve performance, unless you also have Windows 64bit and are using programs written to utilize 64bit processors (not many right now).

i see thanks for the quick response i have the windows vista upgrade and it came with the 64 bit disk i just heard 64 bit was better so I wanted to try it, Is there a board and processor set that you would recommend that isnt to pricey memory isnt a problem I can get 2 new sticks if needed

You wont even notice a difference between a 64 and 32 bit OS now, mainly since there are very few programs that are actually 64-bit.

I had used windows x64 for a while and nothing would run nothing all my programs but a few wouldnt work and Styark your right theres not 64 bit cpus I can find in that socket type if you plan on upgrading intel has socket 775 and AMD has socket am2
