You mean buy a new processor? It might be possible, but pretty difficult. Laptops are really hard to upgrade. What model is your laptop and what CPU are we talking about here?
that really isnt a bad processor you have in there already... what will you possibly need to do to use so much power? you havent specified a graphics card so im assuming it will be an intel chipset and not used for gaming, am i correct?
plus, upgrading the CPU will be fairly expensive, you will probably have to send the laptop back to the supplier who will fit one for you (if they offer the service) that is if it is under warranty etc...
if it inst under warranty you will need to do quite a bit of research, such as:
- Is it upgradeable?
- what processors will work?
- how much?
- where can i buy one from? (most probably ebay or somewhere similar).
Am I right in thinking that the 2.8GHz CPU is Intel's X9000? If it is then it'd be a waste of money for any laptop that doesn't have 2 8800GTX M's in. Plus the cooling requirement is quite large.
