upgrade i3-350M to i7-720QM

Hi folks,

I have an Asus K52JR notebook, and am tempted to replace the i3-350M. I’m currently looking at an i7-720QM, but I wanted to get an expert opinion with regards to compatibility before going ahead.

The laptop is based on the HM55 chipset, and is still running the original bios that was installed at the time of purchase. I’m aware that I may need to update the bios prior to upgrading the cpu, but are there any other considerations or potential incompatibilities that I should be aware of?

Heat.. It'll create a great amount compared to the i3, and you may also have issues with other miscellaneous things.. If I were you, I'd save for a new laptop or just build a newer desktop.

You also have to note it there could be issues with power usage. You're going from 35watts to 45watts..
