Alrighht, I know about grpahics cards and sound cards and stuff cuz I have upgraded them and learned their ways. But one thing I have not done, and reading on it an not getting it, is mobos and CPUs.

See, I bought my custome comp about a year and a half ago. Since then I have upgraded everything in it except its mobo and cpu. It is an AGP, and I want to make the step to the next thing, that PCI x16 stuff.

When I buy a mobo, its just the mobo right? it doesnt come with a CPU? I just get lossed with the numbers and versions or what ever. ATM I have a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2Ghz on a ASUS K8V SE Deluxe.

But seeing how all new cards and stuff are PCI, I am like.. i think i should up now so I can be in the boat. But I will have to re upgarde my video card, and whatelse? Sound cards also? Upgrading a proc to PCI requires me to upgrade how many other things?

Sorry if I am hard to understand I just got my wisdom teeth pulled this morning an im hopped on drugs, but I just had to know cuz I was reading a mag on it, and I fear change. :(

I dont know what your money situation is, but i see no need to upgrade your video card. I would wait a while before upgrading, then get a new CPU, Mobo, and Video card at once.

your current setup doesn't look all too bad for now, as far as what you would need to change, probably only the graphics card, pci and ide are still used which would make up for probably all the other differences. Maybe check mobo and psu for pin agreement, but you can get an adaptor for that
