I have an Intel core duo e7500 2.93ghz processor on a dell ocu409 with (2) 2gb max ddr2 memory and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 260. Its a pretty old computer but it runs games at medium to high quality.
What could I do to upgrade this? I was told the max memory was a total of 4gb for the two slots.

Having 4 gigs (8 gigs max) of mems will do wonders but that's about all beside a better video card. You can't put a quad core CPU on this board.

By the way, do you have 2 or 4 memory slots? 8 gigs max is for 4 slots.

Buy a new lga 775 mobo or 2 2gb sticks. 775 motherboards are like 30 bucks nowdays. Your gpu is pretty good even nowdays, except you can't play dx11 only titles. I have a gts 250 in one of my systems (look at my signature) which is weaker than your card and I play just cause 2 maxed out in 1080p with aa turned down a bit. The only difference is my cpu and ram so your ram might be bottlenecking your video card in games. Your cpu is decent so it shouldn't be an issue, you can try overclocking it a bit for more power.
