upgrade ram in macbook pro

do macbook pro's use normal laptop ram? and can it be upgraded easily? Apple charges ALOT for this and it could be alot cheaper to do it yourself.

Yes RAM is RAM no matter what system you get unless you are high end and using ECC memory, which nothing typically uses that but high end work stations and servers.

Remove the battery, take out those three small screws, remove the plate above the battery and you will see the RAM slot. You can buy third party, I did.
