Upgrade Ram

I bought 1 gig GSkill memory ddr2 ram and install it today. When i check cpu z program it shows additional 1 gig ram but I check microsoft system info only show my orginal 800 mb ram. My computer pretty same before not faster. Did I install it wrong? then why cpu z show 2 gigs? thanks

Right click on "my computer" click on properties, down toward the bottom of the general tab what does it say for how much memory?

I have vista not xp.
this is dual channel. I think this why it not show up on windows system info. But i see 2 gigs ram on cpu z program then why my computer speed still same before??

In vista, you will still see how much ram is installed by going to system properties. As you add ram to vista, it will use more. To run Vista efficiently, you need at least 3-4 gb of memory. What version of vista do you have? What processor are you using?
