Upgrade to Wireless?

Should I get a wireless keyboard and mouse? Is it worth the extra money? What are the main benefits? I know there are no cords to get tangled up on or whatever but still, do you think its worth it?

I use a wireless mouse. Mine's a cheaper one so I have to replace the batteries every couple weeks or so, but some(like microsoft ones) will last about 4 months. As for keyboards, I had a wireless keyboard(actually a microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard combo) but I got tired of it. It seemed when I wanted to lean back and use it in my lap, it wouldn't hardly work. However if I'd take the keyboard out of my room and hit some keys, it WOULD work...

not as worried about the keyboard, but I think a wireless mouse is a MUST. i wouldn't even consider using a wired one these days. that damn wire restricting your reach and such. I got my wireless microsoft mouse a few years ago for $35 and I assume they're even cheaper these days.

Well, wireless goes for about $30 now for the base ones. And I'd agree that a wireless mouse is definitely nice for not having the cord run out on you just at the wrong time... :) As for wireless keyboard, there are times when it would be nice, but those are few and far between...

I find a wireless mouse to be more useful if you have a laptop, since the range on low-end wireless mice are usually no longer than the cable on a standard wired mouse. They also lag much more, and there not recommended for gamers. However, you can spend more money on a high-end wireless mouse, which would be more suitable for gaming and/or longer distances.

I personally dont think its worth it.. all the batteries.. sometimes the range... sure its nice for show.. but nothing else.. Although, if it was a laptop, I'd say the RF ones are worth it.. I dont know if they are compatible with PC..

I have two wireless combo sets:
1. for the desktop
1. for my laptop.

These were both relatively expensive, and i haven't replaced the batteries in the three months i have had them.

They are great with the laptop. Two monitors, wireless keyboard/mouse set up is excellent.

However, with the desktop i found that although the range was excellent, i tended to "neglect" them - chuck the keyboard under piles of paper etc... plus they lag like anything. word processing was a nightmare!
