Ok so im thinking of upgrading my home Pc.
My local store has new mobo's but apprently he told me one which goes by the name of Foxcon, never heard of em,but apparently google has great ratings on em !! the board comes with a Core2Duo cpu..nice :)
so what do i do, buy this crap ?

cause ive always used Gigabyte mobo's so this switch for me is a bit odd

Foxconn isn't new, they were an OEM for a long time and expanded into the end user market a couple years ago. The board should be good, it probably wont come with any frills though.

I mean it probably be a fairly basic board and you'll probably get the minimum amount of IO cables for it.

Overclocking could be limited as well. You should post the model number of the board you are considering. :)

The mobo allows OC'ing. That's good. Are you on a budget? If so, how much can you spend? Calling this board "crap" may not be far from the truth (lol :P); however, if you're on a tight budget, I think it will be okay.

lol,am not on a tight budget, i can buy it, but what bothers me is the manufacturer, im so use to Gigabyte, anyways thanks

Oh god look at how long the model name is. I'd probably put it on par with the average gigabyte board. Foxconn has been around forever, they do most of the manufacturing for Intel branded boards and they make a lot of Apple's stuff.

You know the board has an onboard graphics controller? Overall, it looks ok to me but it depends on what you are looking for.

I will not buy this board as it is 945 chipset. I would rather go for GA-P35-DS3L or ABIT IP35-E(cheap, currently $70 after MIR at newegg)

ok sorry to revive old thread ,but i purchased the mobo yesterday.
Now this thing supports DDR2 400 / 533 and 667.
In my current Pc im running DDR2 PC2 4200/4300 from a GA 8I915MD-GV (gigabyte).

I just know my current rams won't work in the new foxcon mobo but what do you guys think ?
can i put them in and test ?

PC2 4200/4300 is DDR2 533

When they say DDR2 533 it means the Mhz it is running at, when they call it PC2 4200 its the bandwidth of its transfer rate 4264mbs. Its just two different ways of saying the same thing.

ok so i've upgraded my Pc now to a dual core E2180 @2ghz.
but i have only 1gb of ram.
when i put in the other 512 the display is garble and i also nearly fried my 80gb of winxp cause i didn't connect some cables properly.
Right now am on the vista drive (120) and it runs like crazy but i will erase it so i can get the drive for backups. will post my upgrades later. cheers.
now the configure other stuff
