Upgraded my PC but problems...

I had the following thing before:
Intel 82845GVSR motherboard
256mb ram
2.0ghz celeron ( 128kb cache )
64mb integrated vram

now I did a little upgrade and got:
1gb ram
same processor
256mb integrated vram

Now, the speed seems to increase alright but i get split second lags when i open up an application, but then the application performs smoothly. One more thing, that my motherboard's specifications said that it supports Celeron D, and Pentium 4 processors .. then how come its running a 128kb cache Celeron? .. Any hints?

applications don't open instantly some waiting time is normal.

and i don't understand the second question.
you want to know why they didn't put in a faster processor?

No i mean that BioStar motherboards only support Celeron D and Pentium 4 processors ( as specified for my model ). But it is running my old Celeron processor with just 128kb cache ( so its not celeron D for sure, besides I can't find Celeron D written anywhere, its just a normal Celeron ), how is this possible. How can my motherboard run this processor, if it doesn't supports it?

it's probably just backwards compatible. and as long as it's the same socket it supports older cpu's.
also those lists are cpu's they officialy support. so maybe others works also but they just don't give techical support and stuff.
