Upgrading a CPU in a laptop?

Hello.

I'd like to upgrade the processor in my current laptop if I am unable to get a new motherboard.

I have a Compaq Presario 1200 laptop - I do not know what motherboard it has, but it is the stock motherboard that comes default with the laptop.

Currently I have a Intel Celeron 700mhz processor. I'd like to upgrade to the fastest processor that I can while keeping the same motherboard.

Along with that, I would also like the best motherboard that'll support the most and fastest type of RAM.

Any suggestions? I don't mind changing from Intel to AMD if it means better performance. For example, I know the discontinued AMD Duron processor would definitely beat my current processor by far, but I am not sure what processors my motherboard for this laptop can support.

if you could upgrade it would only be able to be to an intel, but you can't, your laptop is too old
take a look at the ASUS C90s though it is a laptop with desktop parts and is upgradeable
